About this event

  • 4 days 6 hours
  • Places available for up to twenty-two 6-12 year olds.
  • Monday - Friday 5th to 9th August.
  • Five day outdoor theatre workshops from 9.30am - 3.15pm (drop off available from 8.30am).

The immersion in a week-long creative and natural environment will improve your child's confidence and developing life skills in many areas.

‘My daughter had a fantastic time, loved meeting new kids and spending time outside being creative!’

Overview:

Over the week, participants will be taught how to craft a bespoke 'Fairy tale in the Forest' performance by Hannah de Quincey, an experienced drama facilitator/ theatre director and Becky James, an experienced Forest School leader and their team of keen volunteers.

The children will be put into small groups of four and guided through the stages of making their own fairy tale performance in a fun, exciting and structured way. They will be able to contribute sound effects using their own or the theatre company’s musical instruments which will help them more vividly communicate their group's story.

At stages during the week, Anna Belyavin, a movement specialist, and a music specialist will lead workshops in movement/dance and music that will inform the making of their 'Fairy tale in the Forest'! It is hoped this year's Summer Drama in the Forest cohort will learn a dance together too.

The children will end the week with a feeling of accomplishment when they share their group’s Fairy tale performances with an invited audience of family and friends at 3.15pm on the Friday.

The ambience of creating drama outdoors in a beautiful setting will enhance their experience and help them express themselves freely.

Places are limited to ensure all children who attend are supported and included, and that they receive bespoke coaching and guidance along the way.
